Admissions
Steps to Apply: 1) Create an Application Account. Start your application by logging in or creating an SJR application account. New families must create an account. There is a CAD 125 application fee, and a valid credit card is required to complete the online process. Applications are open for the 2026-2027 school year. 2) Submit the Application. After logging in, fill out the application form. You can save your progress and return to complete it later. All information must be completed in full as it cannot be changed after submission. Applications are open for the 2026-2027 school year. 3) Submit Supporting Documents. Upload PDF copies of the required documents: Final Report Card (June 2024), Final Report Card (June 2025), Current Report Card or Transcript (December 2025 or January 2026), and Birth Certificate. If any document is not in English, translate to English and upload as one PDF. Submit a Teacher Recommendation by entering the teacher's email; the form is sent to the teacher and returned automatically. 4) Assessment/Testing Sessions. Assessments are conducted in-person at scheduled group sessions; virtual assessments are possible for those outside Winnipeg. Testing sessions are scheduled January to March. After submitting the application, you will be invited to attend an assessment session. 5) Interviews. Applicants (Grades 6–12) and parents are invited for an interview. The student is interviewed by the Principal (30 minutes) and parents have an interview with the Director of Admissions (30 minutes). You will receive an invitation to sign up for a time. 6) Apply for Financial Aid. Financial aid is available for families who qualify starting in Grade 6 and is based on family need. Financial aid is determined by a third‑party organization called Apple Financial Services. The deadline to apply for Financial Aid is February 15, 2026. 7) Submit a Current Year Report Card. Applicants must submit a mid‑year report card for the current school year; these are usually issued in December or January. Upload this document in PDF format when you receive it. 8) Decisions. Decisions are made in March. If a decision isn't yet available, it may be because the number of spaces is being finalized after current students' re‑enrollment in April.

Scholarships
Scholarships: SJR offers scholarships in three categories and provides needs‑based financial assistance in addition to tuition. There are no full scholarships. Scholarships are awarded to qualifying students based on demonstrated potential and achievements in the school's four mission pillars: academic achievement, creative expression, active healthy living, and social responsibility. Entrance Scholarships are available to new students entering Grades 6–12; awards are based on admissions information and interviews, and are held for one year in the first year of entrance. There are eight Entrance Scholarships per year (four for Middle School and four for Senior School), totaling up to $2,000. Internal Scholarships are awarded to qualifying students already enrolled at SJR (Grades 6–12); most awards are held for one year and are granted by faculty based on achievement in the four pillars; if a specific application is required, deadlines will be communicated. University Scholarships are awarded to qualifying Grade 12 students graduating from SJR. Red River Scholars Fund provides an additional tuition reduction for Grades 9–12 entering for the first time; this fund is based on financial need and is not a scholarship, with boarding students not eligible.
